This antique late Victorian sterling silver brooch was handcrafted in Chester, England in 1900 by Fredrick Sidney Banks. It has a center design of twin silver hearts surrounded by ivy. Bright cut etching adds beautiful detail and catches the light.
It measures approximately 1.75 inches long by .5 inch tall and it weighs approximately 2 grams. The back of the pin is fully hallmarked on reverse and retains its original c clasp and pin.
This “Sweetheart” brooch showcases devoted love through symbols. Love is featured in silver intertwined hearts and ivy leaves convey that the giver “clings” to the one they love. A double heart pin was very popular during the Victorian era especially during the British Aesthetic Period from 1885 to 1901.
