A "wooden laup" refers to a swept Tine container or sweeping container, which is a round or oval container made of wood by bending thin pieces of wood (blanks) and sewing them together with birch twigs or similar. These containers, also called Thawers, were used for storing and transporting food, and could be richly decorated.
