This listing includes 2 sewing patterns: Charlie Bear (memory bear) AND his matching Coat & Hoodie.

Charlie Bear is designed specifically for sewing memory bears - he has big rectangular paw pads and folds in his ears. The Coat and Hoodie are made to fit him perfectly, and can be sewn from regular fabric or repurposed clothing. The pattern's written instructions and photos show you exactly how to use existing garment features if you're upcycling clothes.

Finished size: 35cm (13¾") tall, 30cm (12") wide

What you'll need

For Charlie Bear:

• Fabric: 1 medium adult short-sleeve t-shirt (or equivalent clothing) for a memory bear - OR ½m fur fabric + ¼m contrast fabric for paw pads/inner ears for a furry bear (note: fur adds bulk, so your finished bear will look plumper than the photos)
• Interfacing: ½m woven cotton iron-on interfacing
• Eyes: 15mm craft eyes / toy safety eyes
• Nose: 2 square inches of wool felt
• Smile: 20 inches of embroidery floss (to match nose felt)
• Toy stuffing + a plastic chopstick or similar blunt-ended tool for stuffing
• Tracing paper: 3 square inches (for the smile template)
• Plus: pins, matching cotton thread, hand sewing needles, scissors, pinking shears (optional)

For the Coat & Hoodie:

• ½m (¾ yard) fabric
• 36cm x 23cm (14" x 9") iron-on interfacing or contrast fabric for facings
• Coat fastenings of your choice (poppers work well)
• Plus: pins, thread, scissors, pinking shears, sewing machine, iron
