📢 Product Overview

If you own Bose 901 speakers, you already know their magic depends on the equalizer. Without it, the 901s simply don’t deliver their legendary sound. But finding a working original Bose EQ today can be frustrating, expensive, and unreliable. That’s where the Conversion Pros 7-Band Graphic Equalizer comes in.

This modern EQ is engineered as a functional replacement for the Bose 901 Active Equalizer (Series I–VI), while also offering more control, better connectivity, and a stronger build. With 7 adjustable bands, RCA and balanced XLR inputs/outputs, and modern low-noise electronics, it gives you the sound-shaping power you need to bring your 901s to life — and it works great with other hi-fi and studio systems too.

Affordable, reliable, and flexible, the Conversion Pros EQ is the smart way to restore and upgrade your audio system.

✅ Why Choose the Conversion Pros EQ Over the Original Bose Equalizer?

✔️ Affordable Alternative – Stop overpaying for scarce vintage units. Get modern performance at a fair price.

✔️ Readily Available – No more waiting on rare, used parts. Brand new and backed by our support.

✔️ 7-Band Manual Control – Fine-tune your sound across lows, mids, and highs — not just a fixed EQ curve.

✔️ Balanced & Unbalanced I/O – Works with RCA home systems and XLR studio/pro gear. The original Bose EQ only offered RCA.

✔️ Compact, Durable Build – Steel housing and updated components for years of use — no fragile aging circuits.

✔️ Lower Noise Floor – Cleaner, quieter signal compared to vintage units that often hum or hiss.

✔️ Universal Compatibility – Works with Bose 901 Series I–VI plus any system needing EQ control.

✔️ Easy Integration – Plug-and-play with receivers, preamps, mixers, and amplifiers.

✔️ Future-Proof – Supported with parts and documentation, unlike discontinued OEM Bose EQs.

🔌 How to Connect the Conversion Pros 7-Band EQ to Your System

The EQ is designed to sit between your audio source and your amplifier/receiver. For Bose 901s, it replaces the original Bose Active Equalizer.

🟢 Option 1: Using Tape Monitor Loop (Most Common with Receivers)

If your receiver or integrated amplifier has a Tape Monitor (Rec/Play) loop, here’s how to connect it:

  1. Locate Tape Monitor Jacks on your receiver (these are usually labeled Tape Rec Out and Tape Play In).

  2. Connect RCA Cables:

    • Receiver Tape Rec Out → EQ Input (L/R)

    • EQ Output (L/R) → Receiver Tape Play In

  3. Select Tape Monitor button on your receiver when you want the EQ engaged.

✅ This is exactly how the original Bose 901 EQ was meant to be connected.

🟢 Option 2: Using Pre-Out / Main-In Jacks (Some Receivers/Amps)

Some integrated amplifiers have Pre-Out / Main-In RCA jacks on the back. This makes things even simpler:

  1. Remove the jumpers between Pre-Out and Main-In.

  2. Run cables:

    • Pre-Out (L/R) → EQ Input (L/R)

    • EQ Output (L/R)Main-In (L/R)

  3. Done! The EQ is now always in your signal path.

✅ This is the cleanest connection method for receivers that support it.

🟢 Option 3: Inline Between Source and Amplifier (Basic Setup)

If your amplifier has only a single input (or no tape loop), you can still use the EQ:

  1. Run cables from your Audio Source (CD, DAC, Bluetooth, etc.) → EQ Input.

  2. Then EQ Output → Amplifier Input (AUX, CD, or Line In).

✅ This works well for single-source systems but doesn’t let you switch EQ on/off with a tape monitor button.

🟢 Option 4: Using Balanced XLR Connections (Pro Gear or Studio Use)

If you’re connecting the EQ to a studio mixer, pro amp, or audio interface:

  1. Run balanced XLR cables from your source (mixer/interface) to EQ XLR Inputs.

  2. Run XLR from EQ Outputs to your amplifier, powered speakers, or recording gear.

✅ This method reduces noise and is ideal for studio setups.

🔊 Connecting to Bose 901 Speakers

Remember, the EQ does not connect directly to the Bose 901s. Instead:

📋 Quick Checklist

✔️ Use Tape Monitor loop if your receiver has it (most common).
✔️ Use Pre-Out / Main-In if available (cleanest).
✔️ Inline connection works fine for simple setups.
✔️ Use RCA for home hi-fi or XLR for pro gear.
✔️ Speakers always connect to the amplifier, not the EQ.

We’ve sold well over a hundred of these equalizers, and customers have been very satisfied with their performance in Bose 901 setups. During the manufacturing process, minor cosmetic variations can occur, but these have no effect on the unit’s performance or reliability. The equalizer you received will deliver the same excellent results as every other unit we’ve shipped.

Setup guidance:

Once connected this way, your Bose 901s will be properly equalized, and you’ll hear the full, intended sound.
