The Apple 61W USB-C Power Adapter (Model A1718) is suitable for charging several USB-C MacBooks, particularly the 13-inch MacBook Pro models from 2016 onward, but it can safely be used with other USB-C MacBooks and Apple devices as well.

Primarily Designed For:

Also Compatible With (Will work safely):

MacBook Air (USB-C models):

  • MacBook Air (2018 and newer, including M1/M2 models)

    • These come with 30W or 35W chargers, but A1718 is fully compatible and may charge slightly faster without harm.

12-inch MacBook (2015–2017):

  • Originally shipped with a 29W/30W adapter, but the 61W (A1718) charger works fine.

MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1/M2, 2020–2022):

  • These models shipped with 61W or 67W chargers. A1718 is compatible.

MacBook Pro 14-inch (2021 and newer):

  • Designed for higher-wattage adapters (67W–96W), but A1718 will charge them at a slower rate, especially under heavy usage.

Not Recommended For:

  • 15-inch MacBook Pro (2016–2019)

    • These need an 87W charger. A1718 can charge them, but slowly and may not keep up under load.

  • 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019 and newer)

    • Designed for 96W or 140W chargers. A1718 underdelivers for these machines.
