United Nations, NY: Heel Ready To Follow 'Jerk'-Nikita Khrushchev places one of his shoes in front of him on his desk at the United Nations tonight, ready to use it to pound the desk. Pounding the desk in displeasure is one of Nikita's United Nations pastimes. He took the shoe off after calling the Philippines delegate, Senator Lorenzo Sumulong, a "jerk." Seated next to Khrushchev is Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko. Session was called to an abrupt end tonight by President Frederick Boland as the General Assembly turned into a scene of uproar.
