The U.S. Postal Service issued this sheet of Alfred Hitchcock gummed 32¢ stamps on August 3, 1998 in Los Angeles, CA, - the 4th issuance in the Legends of Hollywood series. The stamp features a black and white photograph of Hitchcock with his trademark caricature in the upper left, which is actually laser-cut into the face of each stamp; and the photo to the right of the stamps is a black and white still of Hitchcock wearing a suit, from his Alfred Hitchcock Presents television series.
Also included on the stamp sheet is the following short biography: "For the past seventy years, the films of Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) have enthralled the public. No other filmmaker has so successfully and subtly blended private concerns with themes of universal significance."
