Harcourt, Brace And the Company, New York, 1929. Hardcover. Written by Henry W. Nevinson. First American Edition ( 'First published in 1929' ). This book is unique for having been previously owned by James Forgie. He signed his name off the top edge of the front end paper (J. Forgie). He also dated it at the bottom of the same page (2/3/29). I purchased this and some other of Mr. Forgie's books a good number of years ago, one other of which is still listed for sale. 
James Forgie was a New York tunnel engineer. He was prominent in the creation of the Hudson Vehicular Tunnel, The Holland Tunnel, the Mid-town Hudson Tunnel, and the Pennsylvania Railroad tunnels in New York. He published a good deal in his area of expertise. He had patents having to do with subaqueous tunneling, subway stations, bridges, and material on the 'Forgie submarine'. He was awarded the Telford Gold Medal by the Civil Engineers (Great Britain) in 'recognition of his paper The Laxaxalpam Aqueduct Tunnel in Mexico,  and his achievement in engineering the subject of that matter.' Very few people in Great Britain have received that honor. His papers are preserved at the Smithsonian Institution.
'Henry Woodd Nevinson was an English war correspondent during the Second Boer War and World War I, a campaigning journalist exposing slavery in western Africa, political commentator and suffragist. In 1907 he was one of the founders of the Men's League for Women's Suffrage, and was later a member and Chairman of the militant Men's Political Union for Women's Enfranchisement. In 1914 he co-founded the Friends' Ambulance Unit. As a correspondent, he was wounded at Gallipoli.
Reviewing Nevinson's book, More Changes, More Chances, E. M. Forster described the book as 'exciting', and noting that Nevinson had joined the British Labour Party, stated: 'He has brought to the soil of his adoption something that transcends party-- generosity, recklessness, a belief in conscience joined to a mistrust of 
principles'. '
