A cape from another era! This beautiful piece of outerwear would have wornduring the Edwardian era, likely when the hobble skirt was popular, between 1908-1914. The shape of the cape is stunning, with the widest part being around the elbow, then it cocoons a bit around the body, perfect for showing off those hobble hems! The textile is textured cotton velvet, which I just love! It's so strong and it lasts forever. The lining is cream silk over a layer of cotton muslin for insulation. A truly wonderful piece of fashion history.
Condition: Good
As is typical of items from this era, the silk lining is deteriorating. Luckily, the silk is attached to muslin cotton for added insulation, making it more stable that expected. The silk lining is heavily frayed and detached in areas of high stress and use, like behind the shoulders, along the hem, and along the placket. The exterior of the cape is cotton velvet and quite strong. There are areas along the sides of the cape where the velvet nap has worn away and exposed the weave below, one of these areas is so worn it has created a small hole a couple of mm across. The large frog closures show minor signs of use, but are still strong and very usable.
Overall, this is a strong wearable cape.

Shipping

- We Combine Shipping! Purchases of more than one item may be combined if purchased at the same time. Cost is based on total weight. Ebay requires shipping charges to be paid up front. We refund any shipping overage, within 48hrs of shipment, on orders of more than one item. This does not apply to fragile items that may have to be packed separately.
- Items will be shipped to the address on file with eBay. Shipping address cannot be altered after purchase has been made.
- We maintain the right to add signature confirmation or insurance to any purchase.
- If an item is returned to us by the post office for any reason, other than our mistake, the purchaser is responsible for the original shipping cost plus any additional shipping charges to resend the order. We will contact the buyer when we receive the item, if the return shipping payment is not received within 5 days of contact both the item and purchase price are forfeit.

Condition Chart
- Deadstock or NOS- Vintage garment possibly in original packaging, never used. These items may have fading, staining or other issues from years of storage, visible flaws will be noted.
- Mint- Pristine as the day it was made, shows no signs of wear.
- Near Mint- Item shows only the slightest signs of wear.
- Excellent- Item shows typical signs of wear due to occasional use.
- Very Good- Item is wearable, but has some surface flaws such as fading or staining.
- Good- Item is wearable, but cannot be returned to excellent condition even with repairs.
- Fair- Item is barely wearable, could be used for a costume or as a project piece.
- Poor- Item is not wearable and could only be used for repurposing or a pattern.
- Vintage items will have wear consistent with age, this is part of their charm and should be expected. Items may be larger or smaller than my mannequin or model and may be clipped or pinned to show fit. Accessories are not included unless otherwise stated.
