A huge interpretation of Bach that stands tall in the history of performance art.

■24 SACD hybrid discs include the most popular Bach recordings among Glenn Gould's recordings.

■From his monumental debut album of the Goldberg Variations on Columbia in 1955 to his re-recording of the same Goldberg Variations in 1981, Gould's recording activities were centered on Bach's works. Gould himself was conscious of comprehensively recording Bach's works, and as a result, the major keyboard solo pieces were recorded, and his interpretation of Bach that transcends instruments and time, such as clarity of structure, vividness in presenting complex polyphony, and submerged singing, was engraved on them.

■This is the latest edition of the "Complete Bach" series, which has become a standard since its first release in Japan in 1974, and includes the Bach recordings released by Columbia and Sony Classical during Gould's lifetime. It also includes live recordings and other recordings released after his death. Half of the 24 hybrid discs are the world's first SACD hybrids.

■The two bonus discs include two interviews with Gould and a talk about Bach in German (the booklet includes a Japanese translation, and "Concert Dropout" is a new translation by Junichi Miyazawa)
