This is an original press photo. Canada's Parliament begins new session. Ottawa, Canada --- With the age-old ceremonial pageantry inherited from the Mother of Parliaments, the third general assembly of Canada's Eighteenth Dominion Parliament since Confederation is augurated January 27 by His Excellency, the Governor General, Lord Tweedsmuir, who is reading the speech from the Vice-Regal Throne in the Senate Chamber. At the right is seated Her Excellency, Lady Tweedsmuir. At her side stands the Honorable Raoul Dandurand, in court dress, Government Leader in the Senate. At the left, in court dress, stands the Right Honorable William Lyon Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada, and behind him is Arthur S. Redfern, the Governor-General's Secretary. Flanking the throne, at the right and left, are high officers of the Navy, Military and Air Force and honorary aides-de-camp. Immediately in front of the Vice-Regal Throne the Judges of the Supreme Court of Canada, wearing their red, ermine-trimmed robes, sit on the "woolsack", a huge circular crimson hassock. On either side of the Chamber are seated the members of the Senate, representative of Church, the Diplomatic Corps and distinguished guests.
