Mohair is the lustrous, durable fiber sheared from the Angora goat. It is cleaned and spun into four two-ply strands of yarn that are plied again to form the sturdy 8 ply cord used to make girths and breast collars for horses. Because mohair tack wicks away moisture from your horse’s skin and is very compatible with the horse’s hide, it prevents girth sores. Additionally, mohair girths reduce or eliminate reinjury of the scar tissue on horses with previous girth sores.

This is a custom made 27 strand roper-style cinch (double thickness of mohair) with Western rigging. The leather centerpiece holds the D rings that accommodate tie downs, breast collars, rear cinches, and mounting straps. This girth can be made with a woven centerpiece, with or without D rings. All mohair is custom dyed. Color of mohair, leather centerpiece, preference for a woven centerpiece, and hardware can be specified at time of purchase.

Girth is constructed from:

- 100% mohair cinch cord
- 10-12 oz, heavily oiled show harness leather
- mohair is custom dyed - 50+ colors available
- black, dark brown, or saddle tan leather available for centerpiece
- solid brass or stainless steel hardware attached with nylon webbing

Western style cinches are usually made in sizes 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36 and 38 but smaller, larger, and in-between sizes can be ordered. For girths over 38”, please add $10.00.

These girths are woven on a loom. Leather components are stitched using a heavy duty leather stitcher.

Woven designs can be added for $20.00. However, designs on roper-style cinches are limited and will be determined when the girth is ordered.
