"EUROPA. Peace is the highest value of humanity" is the theme of the EUROPA stamp issue initiated by Ukrposhta in response to russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
As part of a design competition organized by PostEurop, the winning artwork — a modern symbol of peace — was created by Linda Bos and Runa Egilsdottir, based on the Celtic love knot. This emblem, symbolizing unity and harmony, is featured on all EUROPA stamps issued by postal administrations that are members of PostEurop.
For Ukrainians, however, the concept of peace is deeply intertwined with the longing for victory. As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated:
"Peace, Victory, Ukraine — these are the values we are fighting for."
These powerful words became the central message of Ukraine’s national stamp, designed by Maria Suslova, whose artwork earned second place in the international competition. Her design reflects Ukraine’s unyielding spirit and the hope for a just and lasting peace.
