Singing songs of praise to the Lord has been the driving force behind the performances, recording, and TV appearances of Marilyn Cotton. Well-known as a concert artist and television personality, Marilyn brings to this album a vocal talent dedicated to the Lord and His work. Her music and her spirit are reaching out to people, and they are responding.
Marilyn sings the old, familiar, beloved hymns and the new gospel songs with equal enthusiasm, vitality, and spiritual involvement. Skillfully combining the traditional songs of the church with the contemporary sounds of the day, she thus presents a wide-range appeal to varying church and age groups. Arranger-conductor Ray Casey gives delightful and vibrant support to Marilyn’s crystalline-pure lyric soprano voice. These excellent arrangements are all made by Ray, and under his inspired direction these select pieces reach an excellence of quality.
At present Marilyn, a devoted mother and homemaker as well as a traveling concert artist, is appearing on the It Is Written television program with George Vandeman.
This deeply moving album enables one to have faith and hope in the One that each of the songs is about. Marilyn is communicating her love of Christ to you, the listener, as through her love of music she honors her God. This album gives ample demonstration of Marilyn’s remarkable talent and voice.
This is Marilyn’s second album for Chapel. The music in this album has buoyancy and a lightness and joy about it that we as Christians need to radiate more of the time. Some of the numbers are more meditative, but generally we have her favorite songs in friendly settings sung by a person whose heart is in tune with God.
Making their debut with this album are Marilyn’s four daughters—Patti, Jenni, Beth, and Lori. They accompany their mother on the song Happy Side of Life. It’s A Bright and Wonderful Day is a duet featuring Marilyn and Patti.
