The Preserve Planet Earth series of coins first began in 1993, as a combined effort from a number issuing countries, including Bosnia & Herzegovina, Eritrea, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man and Liberia to highlight the plight of many of our endangered species, by issuing commemorative coins.
This 1994 coin from the Preserve Planet Earth series is from the Isle of Man and features the Fallow Deer.
This coin is 38.6mm in diameter, is made from copper-nickel coin and is in brilliant uncirculated condition. It was purchased directly from the Pobjoy Mint before the mint closed down, and comes in a clear plastic "Air-Tite" coin capsule. The photographs are all taken of the same coin at different angles and show how the light interacts with the coin's semi-reflective surface. It is not a "proof" coin (i.e. it does not have a mirror finish), but the coin is much more pleasing to the eye than a circulated coin would be.
This coin is very difficult to find, especially in good condition and would add a special touch to any coin collection. As we are selling several of these coins, your coin may vary slightly from the one photographed, especially under magnification. The most common variation would be a very small amount of toning or discoloration, or a small nick on the rim. Any coins that have obvious visual issues will be photographed and listed separately - such coins will not be sold through this listing.
