The 2001 Sierra Leone $1 "Big Cats of the World" Colorized Cheetah coin is a beautiful piece featuring a striking design of a cheetah that has been "colorized" with an applique by the Pobjoy Mint at the time of striking.  The 2001 series featured multiple big cats: cheetah, cougar, lions, panther and tiger.  These coins were also available at the time in these "colorized" versions.

This coin is 38.6mm in diameter, is made from copper-nickel and is in brilliant uncirculated condition.  The photographs are all taken of the same coin at different angles and show how the light interacts with the coin's semi-reflective surface.  It is not a true "proof" coin (i.e. it does not have a mirror finish), but the coin is highly reflective and is very pleasing to the eye.  

As we are selling several of these coins, your coin may vary slightly from the one photographed, especially under magnification. The most common variation would be a very small amount of toning or discoloration, or a small nick on the rim.  Any coins that have obvious visual issues will be photographed and listed separately - coins with obvious issues will not be sold through this listing.

This coin was purchased directly from the Pobjoy Mint before the mint closed down in 2023, and comes in a clear plastic "Air-Tite" coin capsule.  This coin is very difficult to find, especially in good condition and would add a special touch to any coin collection.
