Lithgow emigrated to the US in 1888 and settled in Albany. He opened an artist studio and was Albany's most famous turn of the century artist. He was commissioned to paint murals, oil paintings, sculptures, illustrate books, and the historical dioramas and mural for New York State Museum in Albany. --
