I found this painting at an estate sale at an estate sale with my mother. At first, I couldn’t tell if it was an original, or some type of fine art reproduction. Honestly, only an expert or someone that knew about the artist would be able to tell if it’s original or not. There was a sticker on the back of the frame from the gallery it was purchased at. So I called and I spoke with the man who used to run the gallery. He is 90 now so it is closed. He remembered the painting very well and was able to tell me that it is indeed a fine art reproduction. The artist Henrietta Milan, made 19 fine art reproductions her whole career, she’s in her 80s now and still paints.
Her original watercolor paintings fetch a high price in the open market. Ranging from $2000-$15,000 per painting. Sadly, most people won’t do the research that I do and would pass this off as an original. I put hours of research in each painting that I sell so my customers know they are getting what they are paying for. Thanks.
Comes framed with a really nice floating frame made for oil paintings. One of only 19 fine art reproductions that Henrietta Milan was ever a part of. While she didn’t paint the whole painting, her hand was involved. I was reading all about it quite interesting. Reproductions can be a shady business. This was purchased at the Wooden gallery in Traverse City Michigan. I had a nice conversation with the man who started and ran it. He actually remembered everything about this. The gallery is closed now as he’s 90 years old.
