Joseph Wayne McVey, better known as Z-Ro, is a prolific Houston-based rapper
who has benefited from the recent rise in popularity of southern hip-hop. He is
also a member of the Screwed Up Click, a collective of Houston rappers assembled
by the late DJ Screw.

His first major appearance on Houston's rap scene came with his unforgettable
freestyle cameo on Wreckshop Records Ghetto Dreams back in 1998. From
there, Z-Ro made a name for himself on the production/ghostwriting tip, penning
lyrics and making beats for everybody from Big T to Big Moe. His own hardcore
but heartful lyrics garnered him so much underground fame as a member of
Guerrilla Maab that has caused a series of break-ups and make-ups within the
group. In 1998, Z-Ro released his first album Look What U Did To Me, 1999 saw
the release of the equally lauded Rise by the Guerilla Maab, a group Z-Ro
formed with his cousin Trae, and brother Dougie-D, followed up two years later
in 2000 with his second solo album, Z-Ro’s popularity and cult – like fans have embraced every album
released since 2000. KMJ Records elevated Z-RO from the underground to retail stores. The
story and interviews on the DVD have never been released and the story has
never been told.
