The 22-540 was a great planer but the handles they provided for it are terrible. This retrofit alleviates that with a single padded grab handle design. The padded handle also rotates in place so you can slide wood from back to front

I’m offering this kit in 2 variations:

Option 1 is which is the handle and top plates only. This replaces the existing top cover only. The only difference in this from the original is the original has countersunk holes on the bottom (inside) of the top plate. This version has countersunk holes on the top of the plates but smooth on the bottom (inside). This means the existing countersunk machine screws on the corners are only getting 1 to 1-1/2 rotations of thread engagement. 4 new machine screws are included to address this.

Option 2 which is this listing which includes the 4 corner columns in addition to the top handle and plates that are NOT countersunk which gives the top screws more thread engagement. It’s also a nice upgrade to get new columns and your planer will raise up and down easier. The columns are included free, just paying additional shipping due to the weight
