1957 Press Photo Stephen Lichtblau & officials discuss hurricane warning system

An improved system of missing warnings on hurricanes is discussed Tuesday by four of the officials that met at the U.S. weather bureau offices in the federal building. They are (from left) Stephen Lichtblau, head of the New Orleans office of the bureau; Lieutenant Colonel Numa P. Avendano, state co-ordinator, Louisiana civil defense agency; Brigadier General Robert Mataist, New Orleans civil defense director, and Erle L. Hardy, Forth Worth, Texas, regional direct of the weather bureau. Hardy outlined the three-phase warning program at the meeting. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 07-24-1957.
