The Wesley Singers were organized in 1971 by their director. Since their in-
ception, they have toured New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Mary-
land, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and the District of
Columbia They have performed at the U. S Capitol Building in Washington, D. C.,
and at the Appalachian Preaching Mission. Two years ago they were port of the
Jazz Vesper Series, a weekly religious jazz festival which has featured musicians
such as Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton, In New York City. Portions of the
concert there were included in a televised documentary about contemporary church
music in America.

DIRECTOR
Joe Routon, Jr., BMus, MSocMus, hos served os Music Director of First United
Methodist Church of Johnson City for the post three ond a half years. Choirs
under his direction have taken ten tours, from New York to Californio and Mexico.
He is a seminary graduate, and in addition to serving churches hos taught on
the music faculty of a college.
ACCOMPANISTS
Joyce Ann Routon, BMus, serves as General Tour Manager os well os ac-
companist for the Wesley Singers. he Assistant accompanist, Craig Campbell, is
14 years old and is an organ student of Joe Routon. He also studies piano at Mil-
ligan College in Johnson City. He plans to enter the field of Church Music.
RENAISSANCE
This small ensemble is made up of several of the high school and college age
members of the Wesley Singers. They recently performed before more than 4000
people for the Appalachian Preaching Mission when Dr. Norman Vincent Peale
preached.
