Minnie Minosa was one of the first players to break the color barrier and he was the first Afro-Latin player in MLB. He was also the first black player to play for the Chicago White Sox. Minnie's career began in the old Negro League in 1946 where he was an All-Star third baseman. In 1951, Minnie became the one of the first Latin players to play in an All-Star and he was named to six more during his career. He led the American League in triples and stolen bases three times and he still has the A.L. record for leading the league in being hit by a pitch during ten seasons. Minnie was a career .298 hitter and he was one of the most electric and popular players in White Sox history coming back for special playing appearances in 1976 and 1980. In doing so, Minnie became only the 3rd player in MLB history to record a hit after the age 50. He was named to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022 after having passed away in 2015 at the age of 90. His signed helmets are not easy to find and would be a great gift for any White Sox or MLB fan. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us. Your satisfaction is our primary goal.
