This is an exceptional example of an early 19th century sugar spoon made out of coin silver. Elongated fiddle shaped handle supports a beautifully shaped shell spoon bowl with scalloped edges. It is monogrammed with “CMB” on the front of the handle and contains marks for J.J. Rider and Salem on reverse. It measures approximately 9 inches long with a 3 inch by 2 inch bowl. It weighs approximately 47 grams or 1 5/8 ounces. It has some instances of pitting to the top of bowl.
