Having a clearout. This lot has been in a drawer for a long time.
Small selection of vintage Bicton Gardens, Budleigh Salterton related items. This is a Botanical Garden that is located on the A376 in Budleigh Salterton, Devon, England.
Everything in the photos are included.
This includes:
Two return tickets for the Bicton Woodland Railway. These one adult and one child ticket. I think you had to pay to go into the botanical gardens, and then pay for the train ride through the woodland/gardens. Being return tickets I would presume that you alighted at the far end of the gardens to save walking.
Two Bicton Gardens car window stickers. These had a gum strip along the top and bottom that needed to be dampened to make it sticky. The first one clearly has that but may be missing the corners (I am presuming that it was attached using only the corners as the gum is present - unless it came like it). The other does not have any glue/gum unless it is an all-over thin coat (it has never been used). I do recall that we stuck one on our dads Austin while on holiday in Devon - don't think that one survived.
One postcard of the Train (a diesel engined locomotive named 'Carnegie'), purchased at Bicton Gardens. I think that this was the newist engine at the time and probably took over from the Steam ones. The postcard does have a slight crease that is visible at certain angles.
These will date from around 1966 to 1970.
Dispatched as a Royal Mail 'Large Letter'* in Card-backed envelope for protection. Suggested option is Recorded Delivery or Tracked 24/48 to satisfy ebay tracking obsession. Cheaper options are available but due to the weight being under 100g, the Royal Mail do not provide any tracking numbers, and have reduced compensation to £20 maximum - so this would be at the buyers risk. (* Large Letter is the smallest option for Tracked 24/48)
