Based on the comic strip "The Super- Machos," Alfonso Arau's (LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE) film takes place in the town of San Garabato, Mexico. A stranger arrives in town, only to have everyone mistakes him for a federal inspector whom they have been waiting for. The townspeople make him a hero because they want him to do good things for the town, but the government wants to get rid of him, offering a wealth of bribes.
