Enrique Martínez Blanco was a Cuban artist who early on became involved in illustrating children's books. He studied at the National School of Art (ENA) in Havana, graduating in the specialty of painting and graphic design in 1970. He continued his studies at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) and graduated in the specialty of engraving in 1989. He participated as a member of the International Committee of the Biennial of Illustration in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, in the years 1981, 85, and 89. Throughout his professional life, he conducted postgraduate workshops and diplomas at the Autonomous Metropolitan University Xochimilco, the National Institute of Fine Arts, and the Ibero-American University in Mexico. He illustrated more than 300 books for children and young people in publishing houses in Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Colombia, Brazil, Japan, Spain, Argentina, Puerto Rico, USA, among others. He was nominated as the only Latin American to receive the Grand Prix, NOMA Competition (Asia/Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO), Japan (1990). His work is recognized for the enchantment of the fantasy portrayed in his illustrated animals.

Enrique Martínez Blanco fue un artista cubano que se vinculó tempranamente con la ilustración de libros infantiles. Estudia en la Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA) de la Habana, graduándose en la especialidad de pintura y diseño gráfico en 1970. Continúa sus estudios en el Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) y se gradúa en la especialidad de grabado en el año 1989. Participó como miembro del Comité Internacional de la Bienal de Ilustración de Bratislava, Checoeslovaquia en los años 1981, 85 y 89. Durante su vida profesional ha impartido talleres de postgrado y diplomados en la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Xochimilco, Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y la Universidad Iberoamericana en México. Ha ilustrado más de 300 libros para niños y jóvenes en editoriales de Cuba, México, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Colombia, Brasil, Japón, España, Argentina, Puerto Rico, U.S.A., entre otros. Se nominó como el único latino americano que obtuvo el Grand Prix, Concurso NOMA (Asia/Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO), Japón. (1990). Su obra es reconocida por el encanto de la fantasía de sus animales ilustrados.
