I designed these front sights to fit into the 3/8 inch dovetailed front sight ramps found on most rifles. They are made slightly oversized and require some light filing with a small triangle file to fit them to your rifle. File the sight, not your barrel!
The sights with a 1/4 inch wide base (see other listing) have a length of 5/8″ and will fit 1/4 inch wide front sight ramps. The sights with a 3/8 inch wide base have a length of .400″ and will fit the Marlin 336 ramp, that’s held on with two screws to the front and rear of the sight post, without overhanging the screws.
The serrations keep the face in shadow under most lighting conditions for a sight picture with a crisp black post.
The radius that blends the sight post into the base gets proportionately smaller as the post gets smaller for each size. This not only makes each size pleasing to the eye, but also ensures that the shorter heights still have an ample amount of post standing above the radius for a better sight picture.
