 Sturgeon-class submarines are a series of 37 multi-purpose nuclear submarines of the US Navy, which was the largest series of multi-purpose nuclear submarines of the US Navy from September 25, 1971 to July 11, 1987. The submarines of the project are a development of the multi-purpose nuclear submarines of the Thresher/Permit project.
