You are looking at a full unused ticket (the top stub of the ticket that would normally be redeemed for a program is not present, though it is not always present - this ticket has not been used for admission) for the regular season game between the Los Angeles Kings and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim which took place on April 30, 1995 at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, California.  I went to this game and can confirm it was NOT a sell out.

Wayne Gretzky set up the Kings' first goal and scored the game winner on the power play, his 814th career goal, in the Kings' final home game of the 1994-95, 48-game, lockout shortened season.  After the NHLPA tour and word that the McNall house of cards was falling, speculation swirled about whether Gretzky would retire at the season's conclusion.

This game also marked Grant Fuhr's first and only win as a King after coming over in a trade from Buffalo - Buffalo was sure they had found their goalie in a guy named Dominik Hasek and figured they could get value for a displaced starter (in fairness, they did).  Fuhr was stuck in a timeshare with Hrudey in L.A. and left for St. Louis after the season where Mike Keenan made him play about 100 games in '95-'96.

Here is an excellent account of the game from James Curran:

"No word yet if Wayne Gretzky is going to give up the ghost on his career, but if he does he left a good last impression at home.

Gretzky, in what could be the last home game of his landmark career, scored a goal and added an assist for the Kings as they nipped the Mighty Ducks 2-1 in front of 16,005 fans at the Forum on Sunday.

Rumors have been circulating that Gretzky, the most prolific offensive player in the history of the National Hockey League, might retire at the end of the season, for now, he's concerned about getting the Kings (15-22-9) past San Jose and Winnipeg for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Kings, Jets and Sharks all have 39 points with two games left. The Kings play at Winnipeg at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. "A lot of things are still on the line," Gretzky said. "We're 2-0-2 in our last four home games. If we started out like that, we wouldn't be in this situation, But now we've got our work cut out for us."

Kings interim coach Rogie Vachon liked the team's response after a loss in San Jose on Friday.

"They played a smart game," Vachon said. "Even though they're all big games now, we were relaxed out there."

Todd Krygier scored a goal for the Ducks (15-26-5), who were eliminated from the piayoff race with the loss.

Grant Fuhr stopped 31 shots in his first victory for the Kings.

"It's been a long time between wins," Fuhr said. "But I had no choice but to win this one." The Ducks were 2-0-2 against the Kings this season, but the Ducks were whistled for five penalties in the first period, and the Kings scored on two of them.

With a 4-on-3 advantage, Gretzky passed to Rob Blake, who blasted a shot past Guy Hebert to tie the game at 1-1.

Gretzky's goal, on the power play at the 17:24 mark of the first period, put the Kings ahead to stay. Gretzky took Dan Quinn's pass from behind the net and beat Hebert over the left shoulder."
