Here is an account of the game shamelessly stolen from AP:
"Gail Goodrich sparked a third-period explosion with 10 of his 24 points last night and the Los Angeles Lakers ran away from the Milwaukee Bucks for an easy 116-94 National Basketball Association victory.
The Bucks trailed only 64-58 with five minutes to play in the third period but Goodrich hit three jump shots as the Lakers outscored the Bucks 16-8 for a commanding 80-66 lead after three periods.
Then, when Milwaukee tried to come back, reserve Keith Erickson came off the bench to score 13 of his 17 points in the fourth period as the Lakers ran their season record to 21-4. The Bucks dropped to 18-7.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Milwaukee’s 7-foot-2 center, had one of his poorest performances against the Lakers in recent years, scoring just 29 points. Last year he averaged 40.2 points per game against Los Angeles.
Jabbar left the game with 1:28 remaining and his team trailing by 20 points.
The Bucks lead in the Midwest Division but now by only one half game over Chicago. The Lakers Lead Golden State in the Western Division.
Jerry West scored 20, forward Jim McMillian 22 and Happy Hairston 12 for the balanced Laker scoring attack. Milwaukee’s Bob Dandridge scored 20 and teammate Oscar Robertson 14.
The Lakers ripped off eight consecutive points in the last 1:44 of the second quarter to take a 52-44 halftime lead.
Goodrich led the Lakers with 14 points in the first half. Jabbar had 17 for the Bucks, who led at one point 16-12.
Neither team could sustain a scoring burst in the first half and the lead changed hands 20 times before intermission and the game was tied 13 times.
Rookie Chuck Terry of Long Beach State replaced starter Curtis Perry with 2:54 left in the first period and played 12 minutes.
Milwaukee’s Wally Jones hit a 25-foot set shot with 2:37 left in the first half, tying the score at 44. Then Goodrich hit two free throws and a jump shot and Hairston hit a layup as the Lakers grabbed their eight-point margin at halftime.
The first quarter ended with Los Angeles ahead 22-21 as both teams were erratic. Bill Bridges replaced McMillian early in the second quarter and Erickson replaced Goodrich as the Lakers appeared to pick up momentum but Jabbar brought the Bucks back quickly minutes later to keep the game close.
Again in the fourth period Bridges and Erickson came on in reserve but the second time the Bucks were too far back, trailing by 18.
The victory was the Lakers’ 20th in their last 22 games, after opening the season with road losses in Boston and New York.
Wilt Chamberlain shot rarely and scored only nine shots, preferring to concentrate on defending Jabbar, the former UCLA center."
