You are looking at a full unused ticket for the game between the New York Yankees and California Angels which took place on August 27, 1983 at Anaheim Stadium.

Ken Griffey homered in the first inning to give the Yankees the lead, which was countered by a Brian Downing 2-run shot in the home 3rd.  Downing's home run was the 100th of his career.  By the stretch, the Yankees had built a 6-2 lead.  Bob Boone hit a two-run homer in the 7th to bring the Angels within a pair.  Yankee Manager Billy Martin summoned Goose Gossage with two outs in the eighth for the save.  in the 9th the Angels loaded the bases with one out and tied the game at 6 with a single.  With two outs, Angel Bobby Grich singled home the come-from-behind walk-off game winner.

Don Mattingly had primarily played outfield and some first base coming up in the Yanks system.  Mattingly played about half the season with the Yankees in '83, and his first full season was '84.  With Griffey at first, budding superstar Mattingly played right field in this game, picking up a single and an intentional walk.  The IW was in the fifth in a two on, two out, first base open scenario.  Mattingly was already garnering some respect as a hitter from Angels Manager John McNamara.
