This auction is for what we believe to be a seemingly scarce art glass bust sculpture or paperweight of a beautiful woman with flowing golden yellow speckled hair that we believe to have been made by Henryk Rysz. The piece is unsigned but one of the three other examples of it that we were able to find online was in fact signed and we therefore feel safe attributing it to Rysz. We found another very similar piece of clear crystal only with the same size base titled “Winter” and wonder if it might have been part of a seasons series by Rysz. With that in mind we have given it the working title “Summer” as it seems appropriate with the flowing, flame-like hair. We found one other “seasonal” type Rysz piece that fits in perfectly with these two that almost certainly would have been “Autumn” given its design, so if we are able to track down the 4th “Spring” bust that would lend even more creedence to our theory about our “Summer” piece. Links to these other potential Rysz season-series pieces upon request. We are unsure as to how old the sculpture is but believe it to be vintage. The sculpture measures roughly 8” in height. The base measures roughly 4 5/8” x 3 3/8” x 2”. The sculpture is heavy weighing roughly 6 lbs 6.5 oz. The sculpture has scratches, normal shelf wear, manufacturing imperfections, and a fairly large strange “X” loop-type scratch on the bottom of the base (see pictures). The sculpture appears to be free of any chips, cracks, or repairs.
