Vintage Ina Nenortas American Art Pottery Jar Modernist Signed & Original Label. The base alone measures 5" high and 5 3/4" wide; with the unusual top it is about 8 1/2" high. It weighs 3 pounds 9 ounces. The top cover has a vase type center, I have never seen another one quite like it. The base is etched with the artist's name. Inside we found the paper label ticket shown. Ina titled this piece "Spring Mood". Guaranteed genuine as described. No cracks or chips, only normal kiln flaws, I would rate it as excellent condition - see detailed photos.  It now has a small edge chip - see last photo.


Article dated November 2020:Ina Nenortas, born in Lithuania, has lived in the U.S. since 1949, currently in Boston, MA. Her interest in all aspects of art was evident since early childhood. Not able to pursue the study of art, she became a Rehabilitation Therapist. Ina's interest in art continued, however. For over 20 years she perfected her skill in enameling on steel and copper with known artists Kalman Kubinyi and Doris Hall.In 1985 she turned to a much softer medium – fiber art and quilting. For many years she was a member of Quilters Connection in Boston. Ina has had personal exhibits of her art quilts in Boston, Chicago, and Lithuania has participated in many joint exhibitions, and is a recipient of several awards. She uses many techniques: photo transfers, collages, watercolor images, and others. She often depicts nature as images from her ethnic background, from Lithuanian folklore and folk art. Ina is one of the first to revive the quilting tradition in Lithuania and is an honorable member of quilting clubs in Vilnius, Lithuania.Despite her advanced age of 91, Ina continues her creativity in fiber arts. Her family insists that it is her activity that keeps her youthful. All quilts are signed on the front right corner.
