The Pride Mobility Jet 3 Ultra Plus (Seat Lift Configuration) Battery Tray and Wire Harness Assembly is a foundational structural and electrical chassis component. It holds the heavy dual-battery power source securely while providing power to the central drivetrain and the motorized seat elevator. Because chairs with a built-in power seat lift place distinct mechanical and structural demands around the center post, their battery trays feature layout clearances optimized for the lift actuator mechanisms.
Core Technical Profile
- Chassis Construction: Molded out of high-impact, chemical-resistant black ABS plastic or steel composite. It protects the lower electronics from road debris and guards the power chair frame against potential battery acid leaks.
- Dual Battery Capacity: Formed with specific structural sections to hold two Group 22NF (or equivalent 12V 55Ah) AGM or Gel-cell batteries connected in a 24-volt series loop.
- Retention Hardware: Features integrated slots for heavy-duty, reusable nylon tie-down hook-and-loop straps. These straps clamp the heavy batteries down tightly to ensure they do not shift, slide, or tip over while navigating outdoor inclines, curbs, or when the power seat lift elevates.
Wire Harness & Electrical Configuration
- Color-Coded Lead Cables: Features heavy-gauge Red (Positive +) and Black (Negative -) battery ring-terminal connector cables. These connect to the respective terminal posts on the front and rear battery cells.
- Quick-Disconnect Plugs: Utilizes heavy-duty, modular plastic quick-disconnect terminal plugs. This design lets users or technicians unclip and pull out individual batteries or remove the entire tray without cutting wires.
- Thermal Safety Fuses: According to Pride Mobility’s Jet 3 Ultra Technical Schematics, the factory wire harness includes integrated inline thermal fuses on each lead line. These fuses act as a surge safety barrier, shutting down power if the drive motors or seat lift actuator draw unsafe electrical current.
- Instructional Decals: The tray surface features a factory-applied diagram decal. This sticker outlines correct terminal polarities, warnings, and the matching 20 V/m electromagnetic immunity rating.
Seat Lift Configuration Note
On a standard Jet 3 Ultra, batteries are accessed by removing the outer plastic shroud. However, on the Plus (Seat Lift) model, the wire harness splits to supply power to both the central motor controller box and the auxiliary lift actuator switchboard. It is critical to ensure that wires are routed neatly along the side of the tray so they do not catch or pinch when the elevator actuator extends or retracts.
