The 27th Iowa, raised in Northeast Iowa was a notable Union Army regiment seeing heavy fighting in Louisiana.
      An Original  Civil War Union Army Stores List., issued at Memphis, Tennessee   January 25, 1864, as the 27th Iowa prepared for the Red River Campaign in Louisiana where they suffered heavy casualties at The Battle of Pleasant Hill.
     The Requisition is signed by  it's commander Jed  Lake, as " Lieut Col, 27th Regt Iowa Inf Vols" .also by his Adjutant, Major George W Howard of Bradford, Iowa.
