The Extron MLC 226 IP DV+ MediaLink Controller is an enhanced control panel with dual-function DVD and VCR IR remote control. Both display control and source control are provided on a single panel to standardize the control interface for all systems, making display systems simple to use. Standardization also makes setup and maintenance easier to support.
In addition to configurable backlit buttons for power and input source control, the MLC 226 IP DV+ includes a fixed, dual-function control panel that is able to provide IR remote control of a VCR and DVD player's most commonly used functions. The controller also features IP Link® with GlobalViewer®, a free Web-based AV resource management and remote control software application.
The MLC 226 IP DV+ MediaLink Controller offers several enhanced control capabilities including six input selection buttons, two bidirectional serial ports for display and switcher control, three unidirectional serial/IR control ports, six relays, and support for optional IRCM - Infrared Control Modules to control VCRs, DVDs, and other IR controllable equipment.
The flexible MLC 226 IP DV+ acts as an extended remote control panel. It is not a switcher; instead, as a controller, it tells the display when to switch between its various inputs. Presenters with little or no training can walk into any multimedia classroom and operate the AV system. The MLC 226 IP DV+ includes universal display control for a display's power, input switching, and volume control. The MLC 226 IP DV+ features backlit buttons that can be custom-labeled for easy identification. Because the buttons illuminate, they are helpful for presenters in low-light environments. The input selection and room/function buttons on the MLC 226 IP DV+ can be utilized for source selection and relays, as well as sending various RS-232 or IR commands.
Especially vital for high traffic areas, the MLC 226 IP DV+ fits into a five-gang wall box and ships with black and white high-impact plastic faceplates. It has the same look and functionality regardless of where it is mounted: a lectern, desk, wall, rack, or wall box.
Easy System Configuration using Global Configurator Software
The MLC 226 IP DV+ is designed to be configured with Extron's Global Configurator. With Global Configurator, the MLC 226 IP DV+ can be configured with a wide selection of commonly used display control drivers. These RS-232 or IR drivers are essential for the MLC 226 IP DV+ to effectively communicate with a display device. They enable the MLC 226 IP DV+ to control basic display functions such as power, input selection, and volume adjustment. Users can create their own drivers or go to the Extron Web site to download RS-232 or IR drivers compatible with the latest and most popular display devices. Global Configurator also adds support for GlobalViewer, a free Web-based AV resource management and remote control software application specifically designed to work with products that include IP Link technology.
The MLC 226 IP DV+ is designed to work with almost every Extron switcher, including the MediaLink Switchers, which are specifically designed to complement MediaLink Controllers. MediaLink Switchers are available to accommodate a variety of video, RGBHV, and audio signals while providing unique features that expand AV system capabilities. The MLC 226 IP DV+ can also work as a stand-alone device to control a display without the aid of a switcher.
Ethernet Control
The MLC 226 IP DV+ is equipped with Ethernet control and is designed to work in conjunction with GlobalViewer, Extron's Web-based AV resource management and remote control application. Together, these form a powerful control solution with the following features:
- Proactive maintenance — GlobalViewer can store and display information about connected devices like serial numbers, owner identification, maintenance history, and installed firmware versions. This centralized data can be collected and used to reduce maintenance costs and guide future purchasing decisions. For instance, a projector can be polled routinely to track lamp usage and total life time. When lamp usage reaches a predetermined number of hours, the MLC 226 IP DV+ can send a report via e-mail.
- Event scheduling — User-defined tasks are easy to configure and schedule with GlobalViewer without the need for traditional programming. For instance, an administrator may want to turn off all projectors every Friday at close of business. The administrator can schedule the system to turn off all projectors at a specified time, and raise all projection screens that were left down.
- Remote technical support — Technicians can troubleshoot systems remotely because GlobalViewer provides the real-time status of connected devices. Information such as connection status, power state, and current input selection is displayed in a central location. For many connected devices, technicians can toggle power on or off, switch sources, control volume, and more without leaving their office. Many common problems can be resolved without traveling to the equipment.
- Theft alerts — IP Link-enabled products are always on and routinely poll their attached devices for status information. If any serially controlled device such as a projector or display is physically disconnected from the network, the MLC 226 IP DV+ monitoring its status will know immediately. In such an event, it can send an e-mail message notifying security personnel of the possible theft. For fast action, e-mails can be sent to multiple addresses including cell phones and wireless devices.
Data Logger
Data Logger is a free Microsoft® Excel-based spreadsheet application that allows administrators to automatically gather up-to-date lamp hour and usage statistics for multiple rooms of AV equipment. It provides a simple, convenient way to retrieve AV system usage statistics into a single document for data analysis, collecting critical system information such as frequency of usage for each front panel input and current lamp hours of connected projectors.

IN 1508
The Extron IN1508 is an eight input, AV presentation switcher that accepts and scales a wide range of video signals to a common, high resolution output rate. It can accommodate two composite video, two S-video, one standard or high definition component video, one DVI-D, and two RGB computer-video sources. Eight input stereo audio switching is also provided with independent gain and attenuation control. The ability to accept multiple inputs of varying formats along with many other convenient and useful features make the IN1508 a true presentation switcher that is an ideal centerpiece for mid-sized AV systems.
The IN1508 features a high performance scaling engine with the ability to scale standard definition video, high definition video, and computer-video signals up or down in resolution. With the IN1508, only a single RGBHV connection to the display is required, resulting in cost savings due to reduced installation time, cabling, and system programming. The IN1508 outputs RGB or component video output with selectable output rates from VGA (640x480) to WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution, as well as HDTV at 720p, 1080i, and 1080p/60.
For more enhanced, professional presentations, the IN1508 includes seamless switching between video and RGB inputs with selectable cut or fade to black transitions. The IN1508 also features a PIP picture-in-picture mode that allows a video source and an RGB source to be shown on one display. Several PIP presets are available, including side-by-side windows, and the PIP window can be dynamically positioned anywhere in the image.
The IN1508 is equipped for integrator friendly access and configuration, as well as user friendly operation via the front panel, RS-232, and the included IR 903 infrared remote control. An on-screen display facilitates easy menu navigation as well as display of operational information pertaining to the selected input and system settings. The IN1508 is housed in a 1U, full rack width enclosure and can easily be integrated into many environments.

The IN1508 features an advanced scaling engine with high quality upscaling and downscaling of high resolution computer-video signals.
- PIP - picture-in-picture — Allows a video source to be displayed within an RGB image, or vice versa. Six preprogrammed PIP window options are available, including side-by-side windows, with dynamic, fully adjustable window positioning. Audio follow can be set for either the main or PIP window.

MLA VC10 Plus
The Extron MLA VC10 Plus Volume Control Module converts RS-232 commands from a control system into voltage or impedance changes to control audio amplifiers with volume and mute control ports. The MLA VC10 Plus is used to mute or make level changes on an MPA Series or half rack XTRA™ Series amplifier from a TouchLink® Touchpanel system, an RS-232-capable MediaLink® Controller, or other control system. The control module also supports third-party amplifiers that use either voltage or 10k ohm pot control. The MLA VC10 Plus is housed in a 1U, one-eighth rack width metal enclosure for numerous installation options. The MLA VC 10 Plus can be powered by an optional power supply, or from the power supply used for a MediaLink Controller or IPL Series Ethernet Control Interface.
Commercial power amplifiers with volume and mute control capability often are not equipped for RS-232 or Ethernet control. The MLA VC10 Plus bridges the gap between these amplifiers and MediaLink and TouchLink control systems by providing a convenient means to adjust volume and muting. It offers variable voltage and resistance outputs to control volume, plus a dual mode relay port that provides contact closure for muting the amplifier.
The MLA VC10 Plus features Soft Start volume ramping which slowly increases the amplifier’s volume to the previous level when powering up or when the module is unmuted. Soft Start prevents sudden, loud bursts of sound that can damage equipment or harm the listener’s hearing. A mini USB port on the front panel provides convenient access for device configuration. LEDs on the front panel indicate power and mute status, plus relay activity to facilitate setup and troubleshooting. The MLA VC10 Plus also includes an Inverse Mode for amplifiers that require a decrease in control voltage or resistance in order to increase volume. For integration convenience, the control module can be configured using the included Data Viewer software.

MPA 401
The Extron MPA 401 is a quarter rack width, convection-cooled mono amplifier delivering 40 watts rms output power. This UL 2043, plenum rated design meets UL requirements for in-ceiling installations. The MPA 401 is an ENERGY STAR® qualified amplifier with an Extron exclusive, highly efficient, advanced Class D amplifier design. It also features patented CDRS™ - Class D Ripple Suppression technology that provides a smooth, clean audio waveform and an improvement in signal fidelity over conventional Class D amplifiers. Three buffered inputs are available so three separate sources can be connected without altering performance. The Extron exclusive, high efficiency design generates very little heat and allows the amplifier to be convection cooled and operate in environments with little or no ventilation.
Energy Efficient Amplifier with Auto Power-Down
The MPA 401 ENERGY STAR qualified amplifier is an energy efficient product that conserves energy and reduces costs. With an auto power-down feature that automatically places the amplifier into standby after 25 minutes of inactivity, it consumes just 8 watts when idle and less than 1 watt in standby mode.
The MPA 401 is housed in a compact 1U, quarter rack width enclosure. This amplifier is UL 2043 plenum rated, allowing for a concealed installation above a drop ceiling to prevent theft while providing convenient placement of AV equipment.
The MPA 401 delivers 40 watts rms for high impedance speaker systems in voice reinforcement and distributed audio applications. The MPA 401 is available in 70 volt and 100 volt models.
The MPA 401 accepts balanced and unbalanced stereo or mono input signals. The front panel includes detented controls for bass, treble, and input level. The MPA 401 combines the left and right channels into a single mono output. An advanced, automatic clip limiter protects speakers from clipping distortion. For applications requiring volume adjustment and muting control from a location other than the amplifier, remote control capability is available using the optional Extron VCM 100 or VCM 200 analog volume and mute controller or VC 50 analog volume controller.
