(Roberto) Clemente; Kal Wagenheim; 1973; Barely Acceptable but complete. This one, amigos, has LOTS of issues, but is here for you if you want a cheap old vintage copy of a baseball bio classic. Where to start? An ex-library book with all the stickers, card holders, tape, etc you want; A front board that is still affixed, but wants to come off; writing all over the front; no dust jacket; some warped pages; underlining and margin notes - yes, margin notes by a Kid! inside some, but not many, of the pages; a giant dogear in the middle on one page; writing on the title page that is classic "I (Heart) First name, Last name" - this kid was a gas!
All pages are complete, and relatively clean, at least in terms of stains, and there is a nice middle section of 8 pages of high-quality, but wrinkled (no sh*t) B/W photos.
Now, about the book itself:
This poignant tale showcases an athlete of immeasurable talent who met an untimely death. Roberto Clemente, one of history's greatest and most memorable baseball stars, led a remarkable professional and personal life, until he met an untimely death in 1972 in a plane crash, while on his way to the site of a disastrous earthquake in Nicaragua. The first Latin American player to be recognized by the Baseball Hall of Fame, Clemente is honored once again in this book that illustrates his dramatic life from his childhood in Puerto Rico to his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
