This 1978 NYC print is the last Subway map designed by Massimo Vignelli in use by NYC The following year, 1979, The Map in use today designed by Michael Hertz (who recently died RIP) came to serve the City. The Vignelli Map is much heralded as a Design Classic, which it is, but it is confusing without scale. But through colour the map is vibrant and captures the imagination! Beautiful.
