This is a typewriter pad, or typewriter mat, designed to be used with vintage and antique typewriters. It is approximately 12" by 12", and is suitable for use on almost any typewriter. 

**TYPEWRITER PAD**

I've been collecting, refurbishing, and selling typewriters for a while, and I regularly recommend a good typewriter pad for anyone who buys a typewriter. A good typewriter pad will keep your machine in place as you type, reduce vibration, and reduce noise. 

This pad is made of two materials: a rubber bottom and a non-woven, ribbed fabric top. The rubber bottom grips onto a desktop or table surface and provides sound and motion deadening that pure non-woven (felt) pads cannot duplicate.

At the same time, the mat has a ribbed fabric top that more easily grips typewriter feet. Flat-surface pads don't have these ribs, and lighter typewriters can slide on top of the flatter pads. Also, because many of the rubber feet on older typewriters have hardened over the years, the feet themselves don't have the same grippy quality they once had. The ribs on this pad serve as a physical barrier that prevent these hardened feet from sliding around. (Felt or non-ribbed fabric doesn't do this, so even on felt pads these older machines can still move.) 

I've used a variety of pads before, and sold several previous versions that I wasn't completely happy with. This pad is different. If you have a vintage or antique typewriter, no matter the condition, this pad provides both noise-dampening and motion-stopping benefits that I haven't found in similar products. I think this is the best typewriter pad available on the market right now.
