Coventry: Ca. 1950. Third Issue. Hardcover. The British automobile produced by the Standard Motor Company in Coventry from 1947 to 1963, it appealed to customers who had recently served in the war, as its name was reminiscent of the HMS Vanguard, the last of the British Navy's battleships. The Vanguard was intended for export, especially to Australia, where vehicles were in short supply, and West Germany. They are very hard to find in the United Kingdom today.
