Rare Earth was an American rhythm and blues/rock band affiliated with Motown's Rare Earth record label (which was named after the band), who prospered from 1970-1972.
Rare Earth was the first big hit-making act signed by Motown that consisted only of white members. When they set out to record their first album for Motown, they essentially ran out of material and did a 21-minute rendition of the Temptation's "Get Ready" to fill out the space.
The album was making no headway on the charts for a long period of time. So they took the first three minutes of "Get Ready," released it as a single and it made its way into the U.S. Top Ten list, peaking at number four. Pulled along by the success of the single, the album also began to sell, breaking the Top 20, and Rare Earth's career was officially on its way.
The core of this album is the side-long monster version of "Get Ready." The epic song features various solos, and the snake-charmer sax improv by Gil Bridges is easily the highlight of the album. However, the rest of the album is just as astonishing.

180g Audiophile Vinyl!
The Supremes, the most commercially successful girl group in Pop history, were one of the jewels in Motown Records' artist stable. Given wonderful material by Motown's amazing songwriters, the group scored numerous Number One Pop hits, as did singer Diana Ross when she left the group and went solo, and Motown's bright, modern, and uptown image as a label had a lot to do with the way these ladies gracefully and elegantly presented themselves and took over a song.
Two dozen of those Number One hits, both as The Supremes and as Ross solo, are collected here, including the timeless classics "Come See About Me," "You Can't Hurry Love," "You Keep Me Hangin' On," and "Stop! In the Name of Love." The album also features a bonus remix of "You Keep Me Hangin' On." Several songs on this album are longer than the original versions.
The quality of the sound is much clearer than any collection before. Having used the original elements from the original masters, the mixers were able to attain new recordings, with much clearer sounds, heavier bass and noticeably higher volume levels of the background vocals. The vocals and instrumentations are let go on until the musicians stopped playing and the girls finished singing, without fade-outs. These had never been heard before being issued on this album.

Michael Jackson Bad 25TH ANNIVERSARY SET
1ST WITH 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION 3LP SET
Limited Edition! Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Ground-Breaking Bad Tour With This 180g 3LP Vinyl Reissue!
Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated 203/500!
Twenty-five years after the phrase “Who’s Bad” became a generation’s cultural catchphrase, Epic/Legacy Recordings, in collaboration with the Estate of Michael Jackson, celebrate the legendary album and record breaking BAD tour on with the release of BAD 25.
The BAD album was the third Michael Jackson album produced by Quincy Jones and was originally released on August 31, 1987. It was monumental in many ways; Michael wrote nine of the album's eleven tracks and received co-producer credit for the entire album. The album was #1 around the world, made history with five consecutive #1 singles on the Billboard chart, produced ten chart-topping singles, nine ground breaking short films and to date, the Bad album has generated over 45 Million units in sales. BAD was nominated for six Grammys and won two; the album earned Michael the first-ever Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMA Awards. Songs on the original album are: “Bad,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Speed Demon,” “Liberian Girl,” “Just Good Friends” featuring Stevie Wonder, “Another Part of Me,” “Man in the Mirror,” “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Dirty Diana,” “Smooth Criminal,” with “Leave Me Alone” added to the album once released.
“The era of BAD represented Michael’s creative ‘coming of age’ as a solo artist in charge of every aspect of his career – from recording to touring to endorsements to merchandising. This was the first album on which nearly all of the songs were written by Michael. It was also was the first album in history to produce five consecutive #1 singles and it took 2 ½ decades for another artist to match that success. It was also the first time Michael would tour as a solo artist - his vision, his decisions on what the show would be. The enormous success of the BAD album and tour was a pivotal moment in Michael’s growth as a composer, performer and producer cementing his role as the King of Pop. We are thrilled to celebrate such an historic era in Michael’s career with this release”, stated John Branca and John McClain, Co-Executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson.

SMOKEY ROBINSON - THE MIRACLES FROM THE BEGINNINGS - GREATEST HITS TAMLA RECORDS S2-254 RELEASE collection from the Motown legends, arguably the best early compilation available on the market. Combining Smokey's endlessly inventive twists on romance (good and bad) with the Miracles' handful of straight-up party hits, it showcases one of American pop's most sure-footed and touching acts. The frontman's prowess as singer, writer, and producer lights up each of these single mixes; less-celebrated tracks like "Get a Job," "Shop A Round," and "Mickey's Monkey" stand as tall as the many oldies-radio staples featured here. While he and The Miracles remain one of the Motown label's most successful acts, Smokey is also known for his top-notch songwriting skills for other label mates as well as his own successful solo career.
TRACKS ARE: GET A JOB - MAMA DONE TOLD ME - MONEY - I CRY - BAD GIRL - I LOVE YOUR BABY - WAY OVER THERE - YOU CAN DEPEND ON ME - I NEED A CHANGE - ALL I WANT IS YOU - WHO'S LOVIN YOU - SHOP AROUND - WHAT'S SO GOOD ABOUT GOOD BYE - I'VE BEEN GOOD TO YOU - I'SS TRY SOME THING NEW - YOU REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME - A LOVE SHE CAN COUNT ON - MICKEY'S MONKEY - I GOTTA DANCE TO KEEP FROM CRYING - I LIKE IT LIKE THAT - THAT'S WHAT LOVE IS MADE OF - WOULD I LOVE YOU
TEMPTATIONS SOLID ROCK GORDY RECORDS G 961L RELEASE - Solid Rock occupies an odd place in my brain; I was four years old when my mom bought it and it's the first album I ever remember listening to. She must have only played it for a few months, but it lodged itself firmly in my cerebral cortex, particularly the trippy "Stop the War." I don't think I ever stopped thinking about this album since and at various times tried to track down copies. I guess a cd was briefly available but I was never able to find one. I ended up finding a pristine LP, at a ridiculous price (like 75 dollars) and made a rip of it.
It's amazing to me that the album sounded exactly like my memory of it, even though I hadn't heard it in 35 years. Like a lot of the motown albums of that era, it almost feels more like a Norman Whitfield (the producer) solo album than a temps album. It was the height of his psychedelic soul era and honestly, it's terrific. The standout tracks are "Stop the War" which has a beat and tempo that could be charted as a bell curve--it's gradually builds and gradually fades and is as good as Papa is a Rolling Stone; as well as Superstar (the retort to Eddie Kendricks, who had just left the group), and "Take a Look Around" which is an appeal against the destruction brought by drugs to the inner city.
This is a beautiful album that is basically impossible to find. If you track it down, cherish it; you own a treasure.
STEVIE WONDER - CHARACTERS - Out of Print SEALED LP ORIGINAL MOTOWN/MCA 1987 CANADA RELEASE & IS SELLING FOR OVER A $100 IF YOU CAN STILL FIND ONE SEALED IN THE COLLECTORS MARKET
CHARACTERS comes across right the first time you listen to it whether it is the soothing melody of social awareness that is found in "You Will Know"or the roaring umph that pulls the "Skeletons" out of your closet. “Each Beat Of My Heart” is another one of those beautiful love songs that will make you sing and cry - the kind of song played at a wedding. The collaboration with B.B.King on "Come Let Me Make Your Love Come Down" is rocking as is the hook-up with Michael Jackson on "Get it"

Marvin Gaye What's Going LIVE DOUBLE LP LIMITED COLLECTORS EDITION
The ONLY Live Performance Of Marvin Gaye's Groundbreaking Album!
Newly Mixed & On Vinyl For The First Time!
Pressed at Quality Record Pressings!
It's "Marvin Gaye Day" in Washington, D.C., and history is made at the recently-opened Kennedy Center when Marvin performs for the first time in years. Experience the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of his 1972 performance of the groundbreaking album, What's Going On. For decades this extraordinary recording sat on the shelves. Now, here it is, newly mixed, freshly released and available on vinyl for the first time.
What's Going On Live has been newly mixed by John Morales at M+M Mix Studios and mastered by Alex Abrash at AA Mastering. The package includes rare images from Gaye's performance as well as new liner notes by his biographer, David Ritz, who describes it as "an invaluable and vibrant historical document marking a milestone in the artist's career."
The album includes the only known live recordings of Gaye performing four songs: "That's The Way Love Is" and "You" (which opened the Washington concert as part of a meditative 13-minute medley), "Right On" and "Wholy Holy". A delay in switching reel-to-reel tapes during the concert meant that his performance of the What's Going On hit "Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)" was not successfully recorded.

An incredible collection spanning the entire recorded career of the Neville Brothers, from The Hawketts' (featuring Art Neville) first release in 1954 through live tracks recorded in the mid-80's. The range of styles is impressive, including late 50's New Orleans Rock 'n' Roll, sentimental ballads, early 70's funk, Mardi Gras band music, and more heavily produced sounds of the 80's.
The compositions include a huge number of gems from the Allen Toussaint catalogue (some credited to Toussaint, some to "Naomi Neville"), tracks from the individual Nevilles (including Aaron's jail-penned "Every Day" and Cyril's classic "Brother John"), as well as songs by Lieber/Stoller, John Hiatt and others. The big hit single with a bullet ("Tell It Like It Is") is included in an excellent live version.
The big revelation to me was hearing Aaron Neville's incredible voice singing so many different styles of music. Besides the ballads that I was already familiar with, Aaron proves himself able to handle more upbeat pieces handily.
Overall a great collection of great songs from a great band. The only thing that's probably better is to get all the original singles and LP's.
