This is a rare early photograph of Jan Sterling (1921-2004) from 1938 when she was billed Jane Sterling in "Bachelor Born" (Jan 25, 1938 - Jan 31, 1939).

Jan Sterling (born Jane Sterling Adriance) was an American film, television and stage actress. Sterling received a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The High and the Mighty (1954), as well as an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination. Her best performance is often considered to be opposite Kirk Douglas, as the opportunistic wife in Billy Wilder's 1951 Ace in the Hole.

The photo has light soiling on the left side and some emulsion spots where the surface is not smooth, noticeable mostly at an angle. Viewed straight on the photo displays nicely. The borders have been trimmed to 7.25 by 9.25 inches.
