The Battle of Braddock Down 1643, by Stuart Peachey

Booklet published by Stuart Press, 36 pages. A5 size booklet (N6614PE)

From the introduction: With the outbreak of Civil War in England in August 1642 the Royalists in the West Country were confined to the western half of Cornwall. Although they managed to capture the rest of the county the fighting see sawed from Devon to Cornwall. By January 1643 the Devonshire parliamentarians received reinforcements from the east and the Cornish were forced back deep into the county until they faced the enemy at Braddock Down. This book outlines the background to the battle, details the battle itself and gives the accounts of the participants. It also provides details of the units involved and the topography of the battlefield. Contents include:

Two maps, detailing The Campaign and Braddock Down
Contemporary Accounts (including Sir Ralph Hopton and Sir Bevile Grenvile)
The Royalist Army (including The Foot, Horse and Dragoons)
Somerset and Dorset Forces
Devonshire Forces (including The Foot, The Horse, Dragoons)
The Army of Cornwall (including The Foot, The Horse)
The Battle of Braddock Down
The Background to the Battle

The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The cover has one or two minor scuffs, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.

When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
