From the introduction: It was decided that the best way to promote such a venture was by publishing a booklet on the history of Alfreton itself and the surrounding villages to provide people with a taste of the enormous local history potential of the area. To bring about this objective, local historians from each village were invited to submit a short text of not more than 750 words on each place's history: up to 1000 words were allowed for Alfreton as the focal point of the area! How each contributor approached the task was left entirely to his or her discretion and in no way is the account of each settlement intended to be comprehensive. We hope, however, that the contributions on each place provide a 'flavour' of the history of that place and encourage people to think how they might delve further into local history. The villages in the book include:

Condition of the book is generally very good. The cover has one or two minor scuffs and some light wear along the edges, but the spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!).
