This will be one of the more unusual listings I've ever made. It's the thesis of a Lawrence Charles Krisher (read  below) 'to The Department of Chemistry in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Dr. of Philosophy in the subject of Physical Chemistry.' The thesis is titled 'Microwave Spectroscopy: Internal Rotation And Molecular Structure.' It was presented at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, April, 1959. I can only presume that Dr. Krisher had his thesis bound within the gray and red covers you see photographed. The thesis is typed neatly.
There are five chapters totaling 85 pages. That's followed by three Appendixes totaling 34 pages. Each chapter has sub-chapters. The chapter headings are 1) Microwave Spectrum of Acetyl Cyanide; 2) Microwave Spectrum of Acetyl Fluoride; 3) Microwave Spectrum of CH2DCH=CH2 (the two numbers are situated below the letters); 4) Studies of Methyl-Fluorosilane Molecules; and 5) Operation of the Coherent Detection System. The Appendix chapters are titled 1) Detection System; 2) Calculation of Moments of Inertia by an IBM-650 Computer; and 3) Second Differences of Moments in Structural Calculations. There are a good many Tables, Graphs, Charts and Figures.
Moving along to something I have some understanding of: the interior of the book is in excellent condition. I'm not seeing any issues that would need to be called out. The pages are exceptionally clean. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing. There are no markings. No attachments. The only extraneous writing is what might be a name or not, a tiny scribble of letters off the top edge of the front inside cover. There is one Table that is slightly longer than the rest the pages. The pages are nicely tight throughout. The binding is very solid. You can see the covers in the photos. They are in very decent shape. There are small spots of rub-through at the corners and the red spine has some creasing and a touch of puffiness. And that's about it for condition.
Here are some excerpts from the Washington Post's obituary of Dr. Krisher: 'Lawrence C. Krisher, 60, a professor in the Institute for Physical Sciences and Technology at the University of Maryland, died of cancer  at his home in Riverdale.
Dr. Krisher was a trombonist and a former president of the Prince George's Symphony Orchestra. He played in the Montgomery County Community Orchestra, the Montgomery College Orchestra and the University of Maryland Orchestra, and he was a member of a brass quintet.
He was born in Livonia, N.Y., and graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University. He received master's and doctoral degrees from Harvard, and he did postgraduate work at Columbia University before joining the staff at Maryland in the early 1960s.
He taught physics and chemistry at Maryland, where he also established a microwave spectroscopy laboratory at the Institute for Molecular Physics. He participated in laboratory research that led him to search for molecules in interstellar space.'
