ABS function: close caliper’s jaws, set to zero (screen does not display INC). Open the jaws to A position (for example screen shows 1”), then press the ABS button, screen shows INC and the value shows 0. Right now, the caliper goes into the relative measurement Mode. Moving the caliper’s jaws, value shows on screen is relative value of A position. In INC mode, open the jaws to B position (for example screen shows 0.5 "), that means that the size B position relative to A position is 0.5 ". At this time, what is B position relative value to the zero position? It is 1" +0.5 "= 1.5". This number is calculated, but if no calculation how to get it? In the B position press the ABS key, INC disappears, caliper changes back to ABS absolute measurement mode, the screen shows the original number 1.5”. It is the B position relative value to zero position.

Product application
Digital calipers offer 4 measuring capabilities: outside dimensions, such as diameters, measured with the large jaws, inside dimensions measured with the smaller jaws, depth measurements with the extending rod, and step measurements taken from the back end of the jaws.

- Zero point can be set by pushing the ABS/0 button and retained to display the absolute true coordinate from the zero point which is usually the jaw closing position. Zero point would need to be reset once the battery runs out or removing the battery.
