This was Australia's largest pre-decimal silver commemorative coin and is great to stack away.

The 1937 crown was struck at a time of high excitement throughout the British Commonwealth - the coronation of King George VI.

Due to its weight and bulk, the coin wasn't particularly well received in everyday transactions, but it was undoubtedly treasured as a keepsake of the King's coronation and has long been seen as a solid store of value.

Collectors are prepared to pay well over $1,000 to get a 1937 crown in exceptional condition these days, while average circulated coins are certainly far more affordable.
