Description

1957-62 AJS Matchless pair of replacements for 12" Girling shocks with covers. "Medium spring rate" should be fine for average use; we are not told what is the exact rating in pounds. You must re-use use your original lower clevis mounts. Please see the AJS & Matchless Owners Club of England website for technical artricles about unscrewing the old mounts. These bikes used "candle stick" and "jampot" style shock absorbers during the early years (as shown for reference only in the photo of used shocks), and then switched to Girling shocks with the same clevis lower mounts, until finally utilizing regular Girling shocks from 1963 until the end. 1949-1956 used the style with split clevis mounting both top and bottom, changing to this type with standard Girling top but still spilit on the bottom through 1962, when they finally used regular Girlings from 1963 until the end in 1966/1967.

These shocks only fit 1957-1962 if you use your old bottom mounts.

Quality parts made in Asia from a Girling sample.
