ENAMELS

SUSAN BENJAMIN

This hardcover book was written by Susan Benjamin, the founder of Halcyon Days, London, in 1983.  It was carried out in conjunction with The Cooper-Hewitt Museum, which is The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Design.

It covers all aspects of enamels and enamelling, from the history and origins of the craft, the techniques, examples through time from the Bronze Age, the Orient, the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and the revival in the 1960's, and finally, valuations, fakes and forgeries and restoration.

Measuring 22 cms by 28cms, 9 inches by 11 inches, with 128 pages containing 33 colour plates and 100 black and white photographs.

First published by the Smithsonian Institution in 1983 and printed in the USA, this copy has a dust jacket that is very clean, the corners and spine are undamaged, and the internal pages are perfect so I would describe the overall condition as very good.

This is a wonderful, well researched and concisely written reference book on all forms of enamels.
